All subjects are aimed at learning how to create for the mobile
application market.
You attend lectures where you learn the use and application of the
software, and you attend workshop sessions where you learn the
practice of software development. The majority of the course is
practical in that you put into practice what you have learned in
workshops.
You are assessed through practical assignments and essays.
By the end of the course you will be able to use a range of
software packages to create software, apps and games in HTML and
PHP, and computer games using Python and the Raspberry Pi. You will
also use a range of programming languages such as Java, C++, XCode
and Python to produce programs for Android, Apple Windows and Linux
environments.
You also learn the elements of design necessary to create apps and
think creatively about app design.
The qualification gained is the Level 3 Diploma in IT (Software
Development) and Sub Diploma Interactive Media
To do this course you need 4 GCSEs at grade C or above.
Career paths for software developers include developing mobile
apps, websites and computer games.
University degrees and foundation degrees are available for those
who wish to take this subject further.
