The BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) is a specialist vocational programme with a strong work related emphasis. The qualification provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the sector with national recognition by employers allowing progression direct into employment or to various degree programs. Assessment is by assignment, throughout the two years, via a variety of methods including reports, seminars and presentations. Students use real work situations and tasks, and are required to suggest solutions or innovative developments. This qualification enables students to enhance their career prospects and gain employment in a range of business organisations. The HND qualification is recognised by all major professional bodies within the business sector. You will need a recognised Level 3 qualification in business, or related area, or an adequate performance in more than one AS subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades at A* to C, giving a tariff of 160 UCAS points from within the main programme area of study. On completion of your HND, you will be eligible to continue your HE studies at a University of your choice. Progression routes have been established locally with the University of Gloucestershire. Alternatively, you may wish to seek employment within any business environment.
