Gloucestershire College is the main provider of hospitality, catering and chef training in the county and has a long, successful track record, with students going on to develop careers with a wide range of establishments. You may initially think about working in a hotel or restaurant (our students have gone on to work and own Michelin starred restaurants) but remember there are also lots of opportunities in company catering, hospitals and care homes, schools, sporting events or anywhere where people need to be fed! You may work in diverse roles such as; food and beverage manager, chef, waiting staff, conference and banqueting manager, crew member and housekeeper. A catering qualification is a great passport to working all over the world in an exciting and dynamic industry. This part time course will enhance your working skills and knowledge and develop your supervisory capabilities within the hospitality industry. You will cover food production, food service, marketing, finance, human resource management and small business enterprise. This course is designed to give you realistic experience of working as supervisor within the hospitality industry. You will be working alongside other student groups and lecturers and you will have a very flexible timetable to allow you the opportunities to be a real supervisor. Part-time students are normally working within the hospitality industry as a supervisor and they attend college one day week, although this is also flexible to help meet student's needs.

Entry CriteriaThe course is aimed mainly at 16-18 year olds who have 4 grade A* to C GCSE's including English and Maths. Our full time students will normally have progressed through our level 2 full time courses, but we would consider taking on new students for this course.
Progression DetailsSome students from these programmes have joined hotel training programmes, others have joined local businesses and worked their way up, and others have set-up their own catering businesses. These courses can also lead onto a Higher Level Apprenticeship, (Level 4) or to a foundation degree in hospitality.
Success InformationStudents on the programmes have a 95% achievement rate. As the courses are assessed on an on-going basis, with no final exams, it means that as long as you keep up with the work, and take advantage of the help offered you should succeed.
