Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) This course will benefit anyone interested in their continuing professional development as learners who have already achieved a counselling qualification and wish to learn about the theory of CBT. (It is also suitable for prospective and practising counsellors, psychotherapists, teachers, support workers, health and social care practitioners, parents and youth workers.) This Introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy will enable you to: · Understand the development of CBT. · Describe the evidence base behind CBT. · Explain the principles underpinning CBT theory and practice. · Discuss the principle applications for CBT skills and techniques. · Be able to explain and use a range of CBT skills and techniques appropriately. Other Information Students have to demonstrate evidence of completion of the learning outcomes. This is done by attending the class sessions, producing a weekly learning review and taking part in classroom exercises and role plays. Additional private study time of 8 hours will be needed to complete the learning review.
Entry CriteriaWhat are the entry requirements? Previous training or experience of counselling or working in the health and social care sector or similar is highly recommended. Students can enrol directly with Student Services on 0845 155 2020.
Progression DetailsThere is a range of counselling courses available Award in Introduction to Counselling Skills (30 hours) Certificate in Counselling Skills (part time) Certificate in Counselling Studies (part time) Foundation Degree in Therapeutic Counselling (2 years) Course tutor will advise on suitable progression opportunities.
