Painting and Decorating Level 1 Diploma

Take your first step towards a career as a painter/decorator in the construction industry with this very practical qualification - the Level 1 Diploma in Painting and Decorating. You cover the fundamentals of the painting and decorating industry through a combination of practical activities and theory.

On this course you learn about:
- health and safety in construction
- basic tool skills
- setting out
- design and layout
- theory of subject

You also learn functional skills.

You learn by doing practical workshop skills and activities and you learn base theory in the classroom. The moodle site means you can view further information on the units and links to interactive activities when you are outside class.

You develop and build practical skills and knowledge through a range of units. Functional skills also form part of the course.

For this Level 1 course you need:
- a strong interest in painting and decorating
- commitment to improving English and maths as part of the programme
- the ability to talk to us about past education and future ambitions in an interview
Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an initial assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.

Success with this course can lead you to the Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating, which we run at the College, or directly into employment.

Support is available for functional skills, dyslexia and any other personal learning requirements.

A range of other useful services are also available to students during course time, e.g. the student nurse, student counseling etc.
