Description
Cover a wide range of engineering skills areas and prepare for higher-level training with Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations. This course has compulsory and optional subjects and is ideal if you want to progress to the Sub Diploma.
You will study the following modules over the year:
health and safety
interpreting and using engineering information
maths for engineering technicians
applied electrical and mechanical science
selecting engineering materials
engineering assembly methods and techniques
CAD operation
maintenance of mechanical systems
operation and maintenance of electrical systems.
In addition you study functional skills in English, maths or ICT.

Individual learning targets are set each term and you receive
regular feedback on your progress in meeting these targets. Formal
assessment is through assignments, projects, presentations and
practical assessments, which are set at regular intervals
throughout the course. The functional skills in English, maths or
ICT are assessed by an external exam.
Learning activities include lectures, workshops and practical
sessions. A strong emphasis is placed on working and learning with
others and you are regularly set tasks to complete in partnership
with other students. You also need to be able to work independently
and take responsibility for your own learning.
The qualifications awarded are the Edexcel Diploma in Engineering, and functional skills qualifications in English, maths or ICT. You will also improve the wider skills vital for success in further study or employment including self-confidence, speaking in front of others, working with others, taking responsibility and managing your time. By the end of the course you will have benefited from a valuable insight into future careers open to you.
Applicants for a Level 2 programme will normally have at least 4
GCSEs at Grade D or above and/or a completed Level 1 award, GCSEs
to include English and Maths at Grade D or above, or Level 1
Functional Skills qualifications. You must also demonstrate the
willingness to study for an additional qualification in English
and/or Maths.

qualifications you would like us to consider please contact us with
your details. Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and
complete an internal assessment. All students will have their
literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.
On successful completion of the course you can progress to a Level 3 course in engineering or a related subject. You are also well placed to find work in the industry perhaps as an apprentice.
