This course will give you an in-depth understanding of applied science. It is perfect if you want to pursue a career in the field of science, such as in the areas of laboratory and industrial science, forensic science, biomedical science, microbiology or nursing, or if you would like to continue on to higher education. You will explore a number of fundamental scientific concepts in chemistry, biology and physics. As part of the course you will develop the practical techniques required when working in a laboratory, investigating the quantities necessary in chemical reactions, the structure and functions of cells and the calorific value of different fuels. You will develop your skills in communicating scientific information. You will also undertake scientific research, setting up an idea, testing it and then reporting the findings.
