This is a one year course that prepares learners to work with children between birth and five years, with knowledge of children up to seven years. Highly experienced vocationally qualified teachers What will I Study? The course is divided into four main themes, Theme 1- Introducing the role of the early years practitioner, Theme 2 – Legislation, framework and professional practice, Theme 3 – Play, development and learning for school, Theme 4 – Professional development. These themes provide the focus for both class based and practice based learning. How will I be Taught? Teaching will take place both in the classroom and in placement. Class based lessons will include group work, self study and practical tasks. In placement learning will be supported by a placement supervisor. How will I be Assessed? All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or set tasks.
