Level
Satisfactory references and a CRB check are required. You will also need to demonstrate interest and enthusiasm for working with children.
Assessment:The course will be internally assessed by a range of methods. this could include direct observation within a workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by the awarding body.
This is the only QCF Level 3 qualification conferring occupational competence for the Children and Young People’s Workfrce in England.
Academic Progression:Students successfully completing the one year programme will be able to progress on to a one year top-up programme which will have A level equivalency.
Career Progression:Students can progress into a variety of professions including
- Practitioner in a children’s centre
- Practitioner in day nurseries, nursery schools or reception classes in primary schools
- Registered childminders and nannies.
Course Content:The two days a week in college will focus on a variety of taught units on Early Years Education, Health and Safety, Communication and Personal Development.
Work Placement:400 hours of assessed practice, in a variety of settings, over one year. Two days per week plus some 'block weeks' of work placement is integral to the course and will provide opportunities for you to develop your confidence, self-esteem and practical skills in a range of settings, such a schools, nurseries and children's centres.
