If you are aged between 19 and 23 and don't already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, tuition fees will be waived. If you meet the Eligible Benefit criteria, tuition fees will be waived. (Registration Fees will still apply).
Course Content: The NVQ Level 1 in Performing Engineering Operations has been designed for young people who would like to train for a position within an engineering environment.

This course will be part of a foundation programme where the majority of the study is practical based in a workshop environment.

The qualification comprises of both mandatory and optional unit and be assessed by observation, practical work and written question. What you will learn:

• Working safely in an engineering environment

• Working efficiently and effectively in engineering

• Using and communicating technical information

• Carrying out sheet metal cutting, forming and assembly

• Cutting and shaping plate work components

• Using manual MIG or MAG welding equipment Entry Qualification: Learners are required to have 4 GCSEs at grade D-G and will also be required to undertake an interview and assessment. Candidates will be expected to be enthusiastic about embarking on a career in engineering and have an aptitude for practical activities.
