This course allows you to study 2 A levels in Mathematics and is
taken alongside the AS Mathematics course. As well as your two Core
Mathematics modules, you will study all three level 1 application
modules and a module called Further Pure 1. This more demanding
module contains topics that are not covered by the main Maths
course. In the second year you will study yet more of this type of

Study? The modules studied in the first year are described under
Mathematics except for Further Pure 1. This last module, and the
ones in the second year explore topics such as Matrices, Imaginary
Numbers, Differential equations and Proof. You will have the chance
to study applications also to a higher level than is possible
during the single Mathematics A level. How will I be Taught?
Teaching is as in the Mathematics A level, but with more
opportunities to tackle challenging problem solving questions. How
will I be Assessed? Assessment is via 3 terminal exams each year,
one for each module studied What our students say? Past students
report that this course was excellent preparation for Higher
Education courses which contained Mathematical or Statistical
content. Students always rate their enjoyment of this course
