A Level Maths (Further)
This is a course for students who enjoy maths and want to learn more about other branches in mathematics. All students will study Further Pure 2 and Further Pure 3 which will be two thirds of the course together with one application module. The application module will vary for each student as it will depend upon the modules you are studying or studied for A2 maths. The modules for A2 Maths cannot be the same as the modules for A2 Further Maths. Additional support is available to provide extra support for students. Students must maintain an attendance of above 85% and complete all set tasks for entry to exams.

Module Further Pure Mathematics 2(FP2) Module Further Pure Mathematics 3(FP3) Topics include: Topics include: • Inequalities • Series • First and Second order differential equations • Further complex numbers • Maclaurin and Taylor series • Further Matrix Algebra • Vectors • Hyperbolic Functions • Differentiation • Integration • Further Coordinate Systems Students can use from one of the following application modules Decision 1, Decision 2, Mechanics 1, Mechanics 2, Statistics 1, Statistics 2
Delivery & Assessment methods
Each module is externally assessed by means of a single written paper of duration 1 hour and 30 minutes, carrying a total of 75 marks. FP2 examination is normally taken in January. FP3 and the application module are taken in June
Progression
Many maths degree programs follow the content of Further maths during first year.
