Looking for a career in Blacksmithing or just have a passion for
it? This course is designed for students who wish to undertake a
Farriery Apprenticeship but do not have the necessary
qualifications to pass directly onto an Apprenticeship course.
Chichester College is only the fifth college country wide to be
granted permission by the FTA to run this course. This is also a
useful farriery qualification plus progression for students wishing

Staff are trained to a high level with ongoing Professional
Development 5. Student support is a high priority within Chichester
College. What will I Study? The course is made up of 6 Units
including Welding, Heat Treatment and Hand Forging, Functional
Skills in Maths, NPTC Forging Certificate. The Forging Certificate
is a Mandatory requirement for entry onto an Apprenticeship
Examinations will be held at Brinsbury Campus on dates agreed with
NPTC in advance, starting in April / May by external NPTC examiner.
The development of your personalised enterprise passport and
enrichment activities fully enhance this course. How will I be
Taught? This course runs for 2 and half days a week over 36 weeks.
It is made up of 2 days of practical sessions and ½ day of theory.
In addition to the main qualification you will study towards L2
Maths and English functional skills. How will I be Assessed? This
course is assessed through a variety of methods according to the
qualification. NPTC – Gola Exam, Practical Test Pieces, Practical
External Exam. PEO - Observations, written evidence and practical
test pieces. Functional Skills – On line exam. What our students
