This Diploma is designed to keep your options open. It could lead to the Public Services Higher Diploma, one of the other Higher Diplomas available, another Level two course at the College or an Apprenticeship with an employer.

The programme also allows you to find out about a wide range of jobs and careers available within the Public Services sector.

Course Description:

The Foundation Diploma in Public Services is an ideal course if you are interested in public services and would like an introduction to this important and rewarding sector. Public Services is a large subject that covers many interesting careers. There are 5.5 million people involved in this sector so there are plenty of options, from education and health to the armed forces, police services or local and central government. The Diploma will introduce you to the whole spectrum of UK public services and help you find out about the careers available and the skills needed to work in them. You will learn about safety and protection services, see how important health and wellbeing is to the community and look at what local services are offered where you live. The Diploma allows you to learn in a practical, creative way that combines academic study with real-life learning and hands on experience, with at least ten days work experience during the course. Work placements and field trips with public services professionals will give you first-hand, up-to-date information and help you apply what you have learnt and develop people skills that will be valuable whichever career you choose.
