Entry requirements Although there are no formal entry requirements, all learners must be employed in the industry for at least 30 hours per week and have the potential and opportunity to gain the qualification. All learners entering the Apprenticeship programme will undertake an initial assessment. Who is it for? The Apprenticeship is aimed at learners who are first time entrants into the construction industry who are carrying out plumbing tasks on a regular basis. CostAged 16-18

Aged 24 and over
Total People require employers to make a contribution towards the cost for all learners aged 24 years and over, embarking on an Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship programme.
Duration 24 months Start date Usually September each year but Learners may start a Plumbing Apprenticeship at any time by agreement between Total People and employer. Training method Day release or block release attendance at a local college (depending on your college) to achieve your Plumbing Technical certificate. This will start in September and run for 2 academic years. Assessment method You will be visited by your Training Adviser and Assesser in your work place every 8 weeks (approximately).A full NVQ portfolio covering all necessary units will be completed in the workplace through a variety of assessment methods including:
- Direct observation of the learner carrying out tasks in the presence of a suitably qualified NVQ Assessor
- Witness testimonies
- Photographic evidence
- Written observations
Personal qualities The learner should be physically fit, able to work outside and have basic communication and numerical skills. Further progression
