Music is an interesting course. It will improve your playing ability and widen your experience and understanding of the subject. You should enjoy playing and studying music.

Course Code: S0760-S0711 Course Length: One year for AS or two years for the full A Level Entry Requirements:

At least five GCSE passes at Grade A*-C, including English. It is helpful to have studied GCSE Music, but not essential. You should be able to play an instrument or sing at at least Grade 4 level. Grade 5 theory of music is also desirable but only essential if GCSE has not been taken. You will also need to do satisfactory audition.

Full Description:

The course has three main areas:

In 'Performing': You will learn to give solo and ensemble performances ranging from 5-6 minutes up to 20 minutes and including a performance of your own composition.

In 'Composition and compositional techniques': You will learn to compose your own music

In 'Listening': You develop skills in analysing music.

After successful completion of the course you can go on to study at a higher level or take advantage of the many employment opportunities in the field of music.
