The course focuses on care provision, including the core care values, personalisation, empowerment, dignity and independence. Within the course students will also have the opportunity to explore leadership, management, teaching, mentoring and supervision. Course Code: F4685 Course Length: Two years Course Schedule: One day per week in term time (plus occasional Saturday workshops and evenings) Entry Requirements:Usually National Diploma or Level 3 NVQ Health and Social Care or A level or equivalent. Mature students without Level 3 will need to have proven care experience. Ideally you will be employed or have a voluntary placement within the care sector, for a minimum of two days a week. All shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview.
Core Skills:The course involves a series of modules including Leadership; Management; Principles of Care Practice and Personalisation of Care; Ethics and Values; Advocacy, Empowerment and the Law; Health and Wellbeing; Work Based Learning and Higher Learning Skills including research. The course provides the underpinning knowledge needed to complete the Level 4 Leadership and Management Award in the future.
Assessment:A variety of methods will be used including portfolio, assignments, case studies and reports.
Academic Progression:The BA (Hons) Professional Studies provides an articulated progression route from the Foundation Degree.
Career Progression:This qualification will enhance your career prospects and enable you to work more effectively in your current role, including management roles within the care sector.
