Summary:

This course is designed for learners who need additional support and may have a range of learning and/or physical disabilities. The course will develop the skills needed for independent living and will ensure learners are able to prepare, cook and present meals for a variety of occasions.

The programme is available at Entry Levels 1, 2 and 3 as appropriate, which bridge the gap between domestic cooking and the skills and knowledge needed for employment within the catering industry.

No formal qualifications are needed for this course but you will need to demonstrate the commitment, motivation and enthusiasm to succeed on the course.

Assessment:

Practical work is continuously assessed and the theory element is designed to suit the learner's needs.

Academic Progression:

After this course, if you are successful, you may be able to progress onto the Level 1 Catering and Hospitality City and Guilds 7107.

Career Progression:

Entry 3 is designed to raise awareness of employment opportunities in the Catering and Hospitality industry and is available to full time learners.

Full Description:

The course covers independent living skills including:

• personal nutrition
• hygiene
• health and safety
• budgeting

Learners also take part in practical cookery workshops and take Functional Skills classes in English, Maths and IT.
