LEVEL 1 DIPLOMA CARING FOR CHILDREN

The focus of the course is designed to stimulate interest and encourage learners understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to care for young children. The course is suitable for young people and adults wanting to develop parenting and/or life skills. In completing the course learners will complete the following units: Self-development, Health and Saftey, Play, Human Growth and Development, Resepcting and Valuing Children, Healthy Living. Students will also complete a placement element and study Essential Skills and Wider Key Skills.

How you will gain the qualification

Learners will achieve the qualification through completing internally assessed coursework. This could include tasks such as information charts, leaflets or written assignments. Learners must also pass the placement element of the course.

What qualifications you need

At least 4 GCSEs at grade E or above, one of which must be in English/Welsh or satisfactory performance at Entry Level.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the potential to work independently and safely in childcare settings.

Where to next

Having gained the Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Children you may progress to Level 2 qualifications provided you meet all pre-conditions. Level 2 qualifications include the CACHE Diploma in Childcare & Education and the Level Health and Social Care.
