Who is the course for?

This course will equip you with practical skills and the theory needed for a career in the Motor Vehicle industry.

What will I study?

This VCQ is an integral part of IMI SSC Maintenance and Repair Advanced Apprenticeship Framework (Light Vehicle Route). Therefore learners (normally aged 16-25) who are keen to build a career in the industry can take this VCQ as part of the Apprenticeship framework.

Learners are required to demonstrate all of the evidence requirements, learning outcomes, assessment criteria through workplace evidence. Full guidance documents and assessment records are supplied by IMI Awards.

This qualification is designed to provide a standardised approach for the delivery and assessment of the competence and knowledge requirements.

Each one of the following units is assessed by online test and observation of you performing tasks in the workplace Routine Light Vehicle Maintenance.�

1. Diagnosis and Rectification of Automotive Vehicle Auxiliary Electrical Faults
2. Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Engine Faults
3. Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Chassis System Faults
4. Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Transmission and Driveline Faults
5. Plus the following, unless you have covered them as part of the equivalent Leve
   a. Health, Safety and Good Housekeepin
   b. Supporting Job Roles
   c. Materials, Fabrication, Tools and Measuring Devices

How will the course be delivered?

The course typically takes twelve months. However, your assessor will have to observe a wide range of activities and this is more likely to determine the duration. All units are assessed by workplace assessment and on-line tests. Some units may have written assessments too.

Course Entry Requirements

Routine Light Vehicle Maintenance (VCQ 2) , to apply for this course, you must be employed in the industry and looking to prove your competency in a range of paint repair skills. Entry is by interview and satisfactory initial assessment. A good standard of English and Maths is beneficial.

The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:

• More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
• 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
• 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
• 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
• Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost

All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.
