Teaching and assessment
This course is assessed through continual internal assessments throughout the year and a number of assignments both written and practical. Teaching is through a series of lectures, group discussions and investigations, presentations from outside organisations, hands-on experience with different organisations and practical activities including team building exercises. Students are given plenty of help and direction from staff and are encouraged to undertake their own research and additional reading.
Entry requirements
4 GCSEs at grade C or above normally including English language or an appropriate Level 2 course - minimum of merit grade, with English at grade C or above or an equivalent English qualification. Compulsory attendance at a college interview and presentation with assessment in English and maths.
Additional course costs
There will be a cost for external trips and visits which are to be paid for at the start of the year.
Progression
There is a second year which students can progress onto to gain an Extended Diploma. To progress, students must achieve a merit grade and have good attendance and behaviour. Following the completion of the second year students can go on to university or work.
