Course Overview

This is a part time course for adults who are employed either paid or volunteers in a youth work setting or as a youth and community worker. You will demonstrate how you meet a set of National Occupational Standards and show that you have the level of knowledge, understanding and skills to complete your work effectively.

What will I study?

Each of the QCF awards is based on an amount of Credits.

To achieve the Level 2 certificate in Youth Work Practice you must achieve a minimum of 23 credits, 17 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 6 credits from the optional units available.

  • Support the provision of information and advice to young people
  • Understanding youth work principles and practice
  • Youth work principles, knowledge and skills in work based practice
Entry Requirements

You must be working on a regular basis in a youth work setting, either paid or as a volunteer.

Duration

You will be on programme for 12 months. During this time you will be expected to attend an Induction session and twelve 3 hour workshops.

Assessment

You will be assessed by an approved assessor, who will visit you in your workplace to observe and assess your practical work. You will submit a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.

Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice

Fees

You may be eligible for Train to Gain funding, this will be discussed at interview.

Where next?

This qualification replaces the Level 2 NVQ in Youth Work. You may be able to progress onto the level 3 or to other areas at the same level e.g. Children’s and Young People’s Workforce Qualifications or Learning and Development.
