Units covered You will cover the following in the mandatory units of your Diploma:

You will then select option units that relate to your job role to complete your Diploma. The same topics are covered in your Level 2 Certificate, but cover the theory behind your job.
Entry requirements You must be employed in an adult care setting. The pathway you follow will reflect the service you work in. Who is it for? People working in a health and social care settings in a wide range of job roles, the option units that are available in the Diploma mean that it is tailored to you and the service users you support. For examples:
- Care Assistant
- Support Worker
- Personal Assistant
- Mental Health Outreach Worker
- Domiciliary Care Worker

Aged 24 and over
Total People require employers to make a contribution towards the cost for all learners aged 24 years and over, embarking on an Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship programme
Duration 18 months (approx) Start date Available all year Training method Training for the Level 2 Award, Certificate and Diploma is delivered through 1-2-1 coaching in the work place.The Functional Skills qualifications are delivered at a Total People centre, however for some learners it may be more appropriate to be delivered at the work place. You will put together a portfolio of evidence that will be assessed using a range of methods, Observation of real work will be used for all competence based units but in addition you will be asked to provide evidence of records you have contributed to, witness testimony and discussion and questioning.
Knowledge based units will be assessed by completion of assignments or questioning.
Functional Skills
You will need to take a test to show you can apply maths and English to your work setting.
Personal qualities To work in any care setting you will need to have the following personal qualities:
- Good communication and people skills
- Be able to relate to people form all backgrounds and cultures
- Good team worker
- Mature, practical and able to find solutions
- Good personal hygiene and the ability to follow strict hygiene procedures
- Punctual and reliable
- Be able to follow instructions
Further progression Once you have completed your apprenticeship there are lots of progression opportunities. You may decide to stay within your setting and seek promotion to a senior or team leader position or seek employment in other settings to gain a wider breadth of experience, for example as a health care assistant in a hospital.You may decide that you want to go into further education, for example nurse training.
