Who is the course for?

The course is aimed at anyone who is interested in bread making. Discover the wonders of Bread. It’s something very special, requiring knowledge of mixing, kneading, fermenting, shaping and baking.

What will I study?

Bread is the staff of life and over the years we have got used to a pale imitation of the true taste of bread. Homemade, handmade, bread is the real deal, and tastes better than anything you buy in the supermarkets.

Over the 3 weeks individuals will learn the following:

Over the 3 weeks individuals will learn the following:

  • The basic bread making methods and ingredients used
  • Do’s and don’ts of bread making
  • How to develop the dough
  • How to shape the dough in a way that gives you a nice product
  • How to prove and bake the products
  • Use your knowledge to make various breads, rolls and fruit breads

During the course you will learn how to make white bread, brown bread, soda bread. You will then be able to take your freshly baked bread home.

How will the course be delivered?

Through classroom based activities alongside a tutor and other delegates at a similar level.

Course Entry Requirements

There are no entry criteria other than a keen interest in this subject.

The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:

  • More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
  • 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
  • 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
  • 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
  • Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost

All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.

What will I get at the end of the course?

You will receive a Blackburn College Certificate of Attendance .
