Who is the course for?

AAT Access, level 1 Award in Accounting has been developed for students who want an introduction to accounting and finance, it introduces basic accounting, concepts of single-entry bookkeeping and mathematical functions using financial data.

What will I study?

The course is broken down into four mandatory learning areas, upon completion, students will proficient in the following areas:

Accounting in a professional environment
Gain an understanding of the role of a finance professional in an organisation and understand how efficient working practices and personal development contribute to achievement, apply professional and ethical behaviour within an accounting environment and understand the legal framework within which organisations must operate

Essential accounting procedures
Introduction to the range of documents used within the accountancy function and other areas of the business, learn the importance of good quality communications, through raising awareness of formal and informal written communications, identify different types of business documents and understand why it is important to choose the right style for internal and external communications.

Creating business documents
Apply basic accounting terminology to business documents and procedures. Introduction to single-entry accounting systems – including preparing to record business transactions in the books of prime entry; understanding types of coding and batch control; preparing documents to process receipts and payments; and preparing a basic profit statement.

Mathematics for Accounting
Learn the skills to perform a range of basic mathematical functions using financial data. Students will also cover basic mathematical concepts and be able to apply a range of numerical skills required by financial professionals.

How will the course be delivered?

Through classroom based activities alongside a tutor and other delegates at a similar level.

Course Entry Criteria

The course is open-access, and therefore no prior learning or experience is required.

The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:

  • More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
  • 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
  • 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
  • 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
  • Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost

All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.

What will I get at the end of the course?

You will receive an AAT Level 1 Award in Accounting upon successful completion of the training.

What can I do next?

AAT Level 2.

How much does it cost?

This 5 week course is priced at only £250.00 per person including all tuition, AAT Registration, first Assessment fee (Re-sits are charged at £50.00), AAT workbook and AAT Certification.
