This course is designed to give lower level learners the opportunity to develop their skills and gain practical experience that will help them in both at home and in the work place.

Course content

The course will consist of three main elements. Functional Skills in Maths, Functional Skills in English and a qualification that will give practical experiences in:

  • Health Living
  • Horticulture and Conservation
  • Teamwork
  • Craft and DIY Skills
  • Personal Development
  • Social Skills Training
  • Careers Support
  • Community Projects

Delivery & Assessment methods

Activities will consist of a mixture of practical and class-based lessons. Students will have the opportunity to sample a suite of vocational areas that will complement their career choices. The course will be assessed through the completion of portfolios and perhaps an exam for the Functional Skills depending on the learner’s level of ability.

Progression

The course may provide progression opportunities to: Employment Further vocational training or both through an Apprenticeship scheme.
