  • The elements and Compounds of the Periodic Table The theory of how atoms bond and why this affects the properties of familiar substances
  • The theory of how atoms bond and why this affects the properties of everyday substances

The minimum entry requirements for the GCSE course is normally two GCSEs at grade C and some other national curriculum subjects at grade D.

The minimum entry requirements for the GCSE course is normally two GCSEs at grade C and some other national curriculum subjects at grade D.

Delivery & Assessment methods

There will be 3.5 hours taught lessons per week. There will be three exams each worth 25% taken in January, March and May. There will also be a centred assessment unit covering Investigative and practical skills which is worth 25%.

Progression

Students can progress onto BTEC Level 3 qualifications. Students obtaining a grade B and above along with an average GCSE point score of 5.6 can progress on to AS Level Chemistry.
