The course is designed to provide learners with a basic understanding of social housing issues. It also aims to introduce some of the skills and knowledge necessary to participate in housing related activities whether paid or on a voluntary basis, whilst preparing learners for future study.

There are four units for the Certificate, all are of equal weighting and are mandatory. The units included in the course are:

- Customer care in the housing context

Entry Requirements
The CIH Level 2 Certificate is an introductory vocational qualification for the housing sector and is suitable for a variety of learners, including: Individuals who are not currently working in housing but are considering a front-line housing position as a career option Tenants and residents wishing to explore housing issues to enhance their personal involvement and understanding of working topics Individuals who are new to housing or workers in a front-line housing position who want to improve their general awareness of housing issues Individuals currently working in housing who wish to attain an initial qualification in housing Applicants should normally be educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, but active consideration is given to mature student entry.
Delivery & Assessment methods
Assessment is continuous and comprises of internally marked and externally moderated assignments.
Progression
Career opportunities exist with local authorities, housing associations and the voluntary and private sector. Academic progression is usually to National Certificate level (level 3) within a housing or housing related field.
