Description

This course offers a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the applied science sector. It is aimed at learners who wish to follow a programme of study that is directly related to their work experience or to an aspect of employment that they wish to move into in due course such as medical laboratory testing, forensic science, materials testing, quality control, research and education.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of four GCSEs at grade D or above which include English and Mathematics or a suitable qualification at Level 1 such as the BTEC Introductory qualification in Science with Merit grade. All applicants will require a satisfactory reference and student profile.

Delivery & Assessment methods

All units are assessed internally by portfolio assignments and moderated externally by an external verifier. Assessment is a combination of coursework (including reports, presentations and case studies). Students are required to keep a portfolio of all coursework undertaken towards the BTEC Level 2 Diploma qualification.

Progression

BTEC Level 3 Diploma / Extended Diploma in Applied Science or other advanced qualifications.
