This course provides an introduction for all those entering or wishing to enter the teaching profession in post-compulsory education. The award is achieved through the completion of a University of Wolverhampton 20 credit module at Level 4 or 5, depending on existing qualifications.

Course content
This module provides an opportunity for students to explore the nature of learning, the ways individuals learn, how learning is assessed and how the teacher practitioner may enable these processes
- Students will have the opportunity to engage with others in group activities as well as to work independently and discuss their work with a nominated tutor
- The process of reflective practice is central to the module content and activities
- This module will provide students with an insight into how their practice can continue to develop throughout their teaching career
- This module covers the LLUK units of assessment entitled Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector and planning and enabling learning
Entry Requirements
A Level 3 qualification in the subject learners intend to teach. Applicants should have GCSE English or equivalent on entry to the course. Each application is treated on an individual basis. Following initial assessments and a guidance interview, learners may be referred to an alternative course, even if entry requirements are met.
Delivery & Assessment methods
The course will be delivered through a blended approach using a combination of face to face classroom and distance delivery using e-learning methods. Assessment comprises: 1. Micro-teach activity to peers with accompanying lesson plan 2. Written report
Progression
Those seeking to undertake a full teaching role and gain QTLS have the opportunity to progress and gain 20 credits at level 4 or 5 towards the Cert Ed or Professional Graduate programme.
