Course Level: Level 3 Course Duration: 2 years Days at College 4 days Course DescriptionThis course, equivalent to 3 A-levels, is designed to provide you with the range of supervisory and core transferable skills, people skills and opportunities to gain the practical qualifications needed for you to obtain employment at a supervisory/managerial level within outdoor adventure and related industries; or to progress to a Level 4 programme. This course is also available as a 1 year programme Level 3 Diploma.

What You Will StudyThis course is aimed at students who show a keen interest and would like to pursue a career in the outdoor activity industry. Learning is through practical sessions linked to classroom theory using the range of on-site facilities and local activity venues. Subjects include:
- Alternative pursuits for outdoor adventure
- Equipment and facilities for outdoor and adventurous activities
- Impact and sustainability in outdoor adventure
- Leading land-based/water-based outdoor and adventurous activities
- Outdoor adventure expeditions
- Principles and practices in outdoor adventure
- Principles of anatomy and physiology in sport
- Work experience
Students will also participate in the following activities and where possible have the opportunity for NGB training/assessment:
- Kayaking/canoeing
- Mountain biking
- Rock climbing/mountaineering
- Sailing/power boating
- Surfing
Functional Skills
You will also work towards nationally recognised functional
qualifications in English, Maths and ICT.
Successful students may progress on to a Foundation Degree in Outdoor Adventure Management (see our University Level online course guide for further details). Employment may typically be found within the outdoor adventure industry.
