The level 2 Uniformed Public Service (UPS) course is designed to give students an overview of the uniformed public services, progressing young people in teamwork, problem solving, personal fitness, public service skills and career planning. The course allows each individual student the opportunity to look at the precise service they intend to join, while exploring the opportunities in other uniformed public services.
Entry RequirementsIt is essential that your Initial Assessment results show that you are working at Level 1. You will also need to have achieved 4 GCSEs at grades A-D, including English, Maths and Science or equivalent. Prior experience of taking part in outdoor adventure activities is desired and a commitment to the participation in outdoor adventure activities is essential. Learners will be expected to have a basic level of fitness and work towards public service fitness requirements.

You will also work towards nationally recognised functional
qualifications in English, Maths and ICT.
On successful completion of the BTEC course students may progress on to Level 3 Diploma in Public Services (Students will need to achieve an overall merit profile to move onto the level 3 course). Past students have made successful applications to the uniformed public services, continued employment or used the course as a building block to further and higher education.
