Introduction

This course will provide you with an understanding of the meaning of Palliative Care. In order to have the ability to fully support individuals and their families who are going through this process, it is essential to enable a culture in which individuals can openly discuss issues associated with death and dying. The more comfortable and confident care workers feel in discussing issues associated with death, the more they will feel confident in encouraging service users and their family and friends to discuss their feelings, hopes and fears in relation to death and dying.
