Course Description
The Distance Learning End of Life Care Level 3 QCF course would be beneficial for freestanding study for students who are wishing to develop their knowledge of this field, or can very easily integrate with employer training programmes.
The first unit provides learners with an understanding of the emotive issues surrounding death and dying. It also helps learners understand palliative care and the role it plays in end of life care, together with the other support services available to the individual and others.
The second unit aims to give learners a knowledge of the importance of communication when you are in the the position of supporting an individual and others during end of life care.
The third unit covers the person centred approach to assessment and care planning within end of life care along with any legal implications that you should be aware of with any advance care planning decisions.
Unit 4 will guide learners through the person-centred approach to end of life care and how it ensures that the individual’s physical, emotional, social and cultural needs are met.
The final unit will help learners to understand the approaches to providing care in the approach to death and the final hours of care. It will also provide a knowledge of the processes of loss and grief and how best to support those who are bereaved and how to cope with own feeling of stress and grief.
Previous Knowledge Required
The programme of study is designed to complement your practical work, as it will help you to underpin your practice with theoretical knowledge. It will also give you the opportunity to look at parts of the job you may not currently be involved with.
This course is openly available to anyone who wishes to take part in a highly rewarding home study course, although you would be expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.
Support
You will receive the entire package of course materials in a single dispatch together with dedicated Tutor Support for 12 months. All assignments are marked by one of our professional Tutors who will offer regular feedback and guide you through your course.
The assessor/tutor will support the learner throughout the duration of the course. The learner will complete activities in order to successfully complete the course.
Assessment
The NCFE Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care qualification consists of a combination of set activities which are marked by your tutor and are moderated by NCFE.
