Certificate in ESOL Skills for Life (Entry 2)

Introduction

The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses are designed for people whose first language is not English and want to improve their spoken and written language skills. This course is designed for students who are working towards an Entry 2 qualification and have a very basic understanding of the English language.

What Will I Learn

You will gain knowledge and understanding in basic vocabulary within English, especially in speaking and listening.

How Will I Be Assessed?

You will be expected to do weekly homework. At the end of the course there will be a 30 minute externally assessed oral examination and two externally set and marked written papers, one for reading and one for writing (60 minutes each.)

Entry Requirements

There are no academic entry requirements, but you will have an interview to assess your level and then placed in the appropriate group. You must be able to stay in the UK legally for the period of the course.

Additional Information

You are advised to purchase an English dictionary. This is a part-time evening programme where you will study 2 1/2 hours per week.

Progression
