The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses are designed for people whose first language is not English and want to improve their spoken and written language skills. How Will I Be Assessed?
You will be expected to do weekly homework. At the end of the course there will be a 30 minute externally assessed oral examination and two externally set and marked written papers, one for reading and one for writing (60 minutes each.)Entry Requirements
There are no academic entry requirements, but you will have an interview to assess your level and then placed in the appropriate group. You must be able to stay in the UK legally for the period of the course.Additional Information
You are advised to purchase an English dictionary. This is a part-time evening programme where you will study 2 1/2 hours per week.Progression
On successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress to the next level of the course. Usually a Level 1 or 2 qualification will be needed to allow you to apply for a vocational course or GCSE within College. You will be guided by your tuCareer Opportunities
