What is the course about?

Students will be cutting out modelling paste/ pastillage to create small 3 dimensional sugar shoes and handbags. We shall also be exploring decorating techniques such as embossing and piping.

The content and outcomes of the course will be discussed with you and may be adapted to meet your needs and those of the group. By the end of the course you should be able to:
Demonstrate how to cut out and shape modelling paste using cutters and templates
Explore a range of tools to emboss a pattern
Practise some basic piping techniques

What is your approach?

The tutor will demonstrate the techniques and students will have plenty of opportunity to practise for themselves. The tutor will be on hand to offer support and guidance. There will be a selection of books and magazines available for students to refer to for decorating ideas.

What will I need?

You will have an opportunity to maintain an Individual Learning Plan and your tutor will discuss your progress and achievement with you throughout the course.

What will I need for the first session?
A pen and paper
An apron
A small cake board on which to put your items
A box/ container for the cake board
A small non stick board if you have one
A small non stick rolling pin if you have one
A small palette knife
A cutting wheel or small sharp craft knife
Cocktail sticks
Any food paste colours you may have
Are there any other costs?
Students will require a small quantity of modelling paste/ pastillage . The tutor will have some for sale at the first session for £1.00.
