Creative communication is central to the programme of study, encouraging actors to develop a range of skills that will enhance their employability in the industry.Acting for camera, directing, outreach drama, classical, contemporary and voice and speech are explored practically, with underpinning knowledge and research to support and guide the creative pulse of each project.
The HND in Performing Arts would appeal to those with a high level of commitment and a professional approach to practical work and personal development. You may also have the opportunity to go on local, national or foreign trips to broaden creative horizons, experiencing performing arts at work in a variety of contexts.
This course is validated by Edexcel.
How long is the course?
This is a two year full-time course. Participation in some evening performances also forms a necessary part of the HND. There may also be sessions and workshops held in the early evenings.You will also need to dedicate a substantial amount of time to research and work outside the classroom.

Assessment methods are varied and include written reports, presentations, critiques, portfolios, practical workshops and performances.What will I study?

What does the course lead to?
Successful completion of this course will enable you to progress into a range of career and employment opportunities, including arts administration, community theatre, theatre design, theatre in education and television and radio.You could also establish your own theatre company, giving you the opportunity to perform, direct and manage a creative team.
What can I go on to study?
After successful completion of this course you may wish to top-up your HND by studying a further year at a university to gain a full honours degree (subject to entry requirements).Other related courses at the college

Entry requirements
Ideally you will have a BTEC Extended Diploma in a relevant subject or two A Level passes at Grade C or above (one should preferably be theatre related).All applicants will be auditioned and invited to an interview to discuss qualifications, experience and any other related issues.
Applicants without the formal qualifications for entry, but with appropriate experience and who can demonstrate a commitment to pursue a specialist area of study, would also be welcomed onto this course. However, literacy at Level 2 is an essential requirement and numeracy at Level 2 is desirable.
