· Healthcare assistants / support workers in the community and primary care environments
· Healthcare assistants / support workers in acute health environments
· Care assistants / support workers / key workers in domiciliary services
· Care assistants / support workers / key workers in day services
· Support workers in supported living projects
· Community-based care assistants / support workers / key workers, including those working in specialist areas e.g. dementia, learning disabilities
· Personal assistants employed directly by the individual they support or their families
· Emerging new types of workers and multidisciplinary health roles crossing traditional service barriers and delivery models.
This course is flexible to suit all fields of health and social
care. You can choose a pathway that suits your role - for example,
working with people with a learning disability, people with
dementia or children and young people.
This is the main qualification required by the Quality Care
Commission in England and the Care Councils in Wales and Northern
Ireland.These are the recognised qualifications for care workers
and senior care workers in health and social care.
For the Level 2 qualification, you might have no previous
experience, or you might be working in care and want recognition
for your current skills.
It is anticipated that learners will progress to the Level 3
Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF), or to
specialist qualifications reflecting the context in which they
work.

You are required to produce a portfolio of evidence on our e-portfolio system. Within your portfolio you will complete a variety of assessments to include; observation held in the working environment, reflective accounts, witness statements, activity based work books and work products in order to meet the criteria stipulated by the awarding body. The assessment methods you use will be planned with your assessor.What will I study?
To achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (4222-21), you must achieve a minimum of 46 credits. To do this you must achieve:Generic Pathway
24 credits from the mandatory units in Group A, a minimum of 2 credits and a maximum of 7 credits from the optional units in Group B and at least 15 credits from the optional units in Group C.Dementia Pathway
24 credits from the mandatory units in Group A, a minimum of 2 credits and a maximum of 7 credits from the optional units in Group B but must complete : DEM 201 Dementia Awareness at least 15 credits from the optional units in Group C but one of the following must be completed: DEM 204, DEM,209, DEM 210 or DEM 211.Adults with Learning Disabilities Pathway
24 credits from the mandatory units in Group A, a minimum of 2 credits and a maximum of 7 credits from the optional units in Group B but must complete : LD 201 Understand the context of supporting and individual with learning disabilities at least 15 credits from the optional units in Group C but one of the following must be completed: LD 202, LD 203.

The course supports progression onto other courses, including:Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults), Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) and other care-related short courses.
Entry requirements
You are required to be in paid employment in a care setting on either a full or part-time basis. Alternatively, you could be carrying out a relevant voluntary role on a regular basis.You should choose optional units that are appropriate to your
current work role.
