Full-time students will have two days in college and one study day per week. You will also need to dedicate a substantial amount of time to research and work outside the classroom.

What does the course lead to?

This course will provide you with knowledge, understanding and professional skills you can take into your future career or current role. You can expect to move on in your vocational field into senior level roles upon completion.

What can I go on to study?

On successful completion of the HND programme you have the opportunity to complete a one year top-up award to gain a BSc (Hons) or a BEng Degree at an appropriate university, subject to entry requirements.

Engineering students may wish to apply for membership of professional institutes or bodies such as IMechE or IEEIE after completing their programme.

Entry requirements

All applicants will be invited to an interview to discuss qualifications, experience and any other related issues.

To start this course, you will be expected to have successfully completed, or have evidence of working towards, at least one of the following:

  • Appropriate A Levels and three GCSEs at grade C or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 3 in a related subject
  • BTEC National Certificate/Diploma at grade MM in a related subject
  • Other appropriate Level 3 qualification

If you have substantial, relevant work experience rather than qualifications, we will take this into considerationat the interview. However, literacy and numeracy at Level 2 are essential requirements.
