New for September 2012 (this programme replaces the Foundation Degree in Software Development with Multimedia).

How long is the course?

This is a two year full-time course. Part-time and day release options may be available subject to demand.
You will also need to dedicate a substantial amount of time to research and study outside of the classroom.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment methods are varied and may include written reports, presentations, case studies and individual/group projects that are client-based, giving you a valuable experience of working on a live brief.

What does the course lead to?

Completion of this course will enable you to progress into a range of careers, including programming in a variety of languages, website design or database development.

What can I go on to study?

Upon successful achievement of this qualification you may wish to further your academic studies by applying for a one year top-up at a university to gain a full honours degree (subject to entry requirements). Tutors can offer advice and guidance if this is your intention or if you wish to explore other options.

Entry requirements

All applicants will be invited to an interview to discuss qualifications, experience and any other related issues.

To start this course, you will be expected to have successfully completed, or have evidence of working towards, a minimum of one one of the following:

  • Appropriate A Levels and three GCSEs at grade C or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 3 in a related subject
  • Appropriate BTEC National qualification
  • Other relevant Level 3 qualification

If you have substantial, relevant work experience rather than qualifications, we will take this into consideration at the interview. However, literacy and numeracy at Level 2 are essential requirements.
