Depending upon your framework your apprenticeship could include
the following modules:
· Spreadsheet software
· Word processing software
· Website software
· Presentation software
· Improving productivity using IT
· Database software
· Internet
· Using Email
· Set up an IT system
· IT Security for users
· Audio software
· Video software
· Computerised accounts software
· Design software
· Imaging software
· Data management software
· Desktop publishing software
How long is the course?
Your apprenticeship does not last for a fixed length of time. It ends when all necessary components are completed, usually around 12 months. The pace of your progress will depend very much upon your commitment.How will I be assessed?
Some modules can be assessed in the workplace, where your current job role allows. Some modules will mean you take City & Guilds assignments by attending a college learning centre on day release.Your apprenticeship can also be a mixture of both work placed assessment and City & Guilds assignments if appropriate.
Your assessor will visit you once every two to three weeks for one to one support and assessment or you will attend college for one day a week. Alternatively you could have a combination of both scenarios.
Functional skills can be either assessed in the workplace, or if you are attending college, you may also do your functional skills on the same day.
What will I study?
As part of your apprenticeship you will cover the following:· City & Guilds 7574 Level 2 ITQ Diploma
· City & Guilds Functional skills in
Literacy & Numeracy at Level 1
· Employment Rights & Responsibilities
What can I go on to study?
Following on from the Level 2 there is the opportunity for progression onto an Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3 and the potential to work in a supervisory role.The skills and knowledge you will acquire are highly transferable and will give you the best opportunity to develop a career in numerous IT related sectors.
Entry requirements
No minimum entry requirements are necessary for the apprenticeship although ICT user skills at Level 1 would be desirable.Employers may have their own entry requirements.
However you should be:
· employed in a role where you use IT regularly
· motivated to succeed in your sector
· willing to learn and apply that learning to the
workplace
· able to demonstrate the potential to complete the
qualification
· willing to communicate effectively with a range of
people
· literate and numerate
How much does it cost?
If you are between the age of 16 and 18, the apprenticeship is free of charge. If you are 19 and above your employer must pay a one off fee.During your apprenticeship your employer is obliged to pay you a wage at the minimum rate for an apprentice.
