People who work in general hospital or community settings often meet people accessing their services who also have a diagnosis of dementia. This can be problematic as practitioners often feel ill equipped to understand the needs of people with dementia and how they can best support them in relation to their care. Historically this has resulted in poor experience for people who have dementia and their families. This workshop provides an opportunity for such practitioners develop their practice in relation to exploring strategies for intervention, share good practice with interdisciplinary colleagues and discuss the evidence base for potential approaches…

By the end of the workshop participants will have:
- Developed skills in recognising links between behaviour and communication
- Developed and discussed possible interventions and strategies when working with people with dementia
- Developed awareness of the evidence base for different approaches
- Engaged in critical reflection on current practice within an interdisciplinary context
