More about levels and credits

Selection criteria Applicants should have NVQ level 3 in health care or equivalent level 3 qualifications. Full consideration will be given to applicants who do not have the above formal qualifications but who have significant relevant work experience within Stroke Care. All applicants should be employed in settings where they will have access to stroke patients; this could include NHS, private and voluntary providers. Applicants should have access to a suitably qualified workplace mentor. Modules

All modules are core and must be passed for the award of University Certificate Practice Development: Stroke Care:

HLLG4013 Acute Stroke Care and Support (20 credits at level 4)

HLLG4014 Fundamentals of Rehabilitation for People with Neurological Conditions (20 credits at level 4)

HLLG4015 Long Term Conditions for People with Neurological Conditions (20 credits at level 4)

Course summary There are three core modules at level 4; each module focuses on an aspect of stroke care and can also be taken as a stand-alone module. In module HLLG4013 you will study the effects of stroke upon the person and aspects of acute stroke assessment and care. In module HLLG4014 you will learn about the rehabilitation process and develop rehabilitation skills that you can apply to practice. Module HLLG4015 focuses on how the longer term needs of people with stroke can be met.
