Our Sport and Exercise Science programme has been built on strong foundations. We were one of the first institutions in the UK to develop a sports studies programme. These courses are taught by well-qualified staff and are further enhanced by a strong research and consultancy profile in sport and exercise science. Many staff at the University have attained professional accreditation in research or consultancy from the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES). Chichester offers one of only a few BASES-endorsed programmes in the UK. Sport and exercise science is perhaps the one area of sport that has expanded most rapidly over the last decade and, with the introduction of Government funding for Sport Science Support Services and the establishment of UK Sport and National/Regional Centres of Excellence, there is a growing demand for well qualified sport and exercise scientists. With experience of delivering sport science support to Olympic medalists, we are well placed to provide a significant contribution to athlete services for the 2012 Olympics.
