  • Provide chair side support during the extraction of teeth and minor oral surgery

Entry requirements You must be employed in a dental practice for a minimum of 30 hours/week. Who is it for? The qualification is open to any dental nurses employed in a dental practice who would like to achieve a recognised qualification approved by the General Dental Council. CostAged 16-18

Aged 19 and over

Total People require employers to make a contribution towards the cost for all learners aged 19 years and over, embarking on an Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship programme.

Duration Depending on your progress the exam for the Technical certificate is normally taken after 12 months. The whole qualification takes approximately 2 years to complete. Start date Available throughout the year Assessment method You will be assessed through a range of methods including:

  • Written exam consisting of multiple choice and short answer questions.
  • Work based Observations
  • Assignments
  • Projects

You will either be required to attend evening training at a Total People centre or one of our advisers will come to you in the workplace and carry out the training remotely. Personal qualities You need to have good communication skills and enjoy being part of a team, whilst also being enthusiastic and willing to learn.
