Diploma in Hair and Beauty Level 1

This course is for school leavers who wish to embark on a career in the hair or beauty profession.

The course covers the following:
- Assist with hair and beauty services
- Presenting a professional image
- Skin care and make-up
- Hand care
- Plaiting
- Styling and dressing hair
- Assist with colouring services
- Nail services
IT and communication skills will be developed and assessed according to individual needs.

Diploma in Hair and Beauty Level 1

Entry Requirements:

Interview required

3 GCSE's grade E or above or entry qualifications at entry level 3. You will be required to successfully pass an interview showing enthusiasm and commitment towards this course. Individual cases will be considered on their own merits.

Assessment:

Assessments are carried out using four methods, observation of practical competence, short assignments, oral questioning and written mandatory tests. A portfolio of work is built up during the course and used as part of the assessment process.

Progression from this course:

On successful completion of this course with the achievement of satisfactory attendance and progress reviews, you will have the opportunity to progress to Diploma in Hairdressing (Stage 1 or 2) or Diploma in Beauty Therapy Level 2.

Course Costs:

All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials / resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees).
