There are five units that make up the qualification and they are assessed practically and by assignments. Topics covered are customer care, salon reception duties, health and safety and assisting hairdressing services. These will give you a great introduction into a career in hairdressing.
Additional NotesOn successful completion of this course, students may progress onto the NVQ level 1 or NVQ level 2 in hairdressing or beauty, either on a full time basis or through the apprenticeship route. To progress to level 1 you will need a pass grade and to progress to level 2, you will need a merit or distinction grade. You must also have a GCSE grade A*-C in english language or functional skills level 2 to progress onto a level 2.
Entry CriteriaTo enrol onto this course, you’ll need to be a Year 11 student and be passionate about hairdressing. You will also need predicted grades of A to D in your chosen subjects and have a good tutor reference too.
Progression DetailsWith a Principle learning Level 1 qualification you can apply onto a NVQ Level 2 course in hairdressing or an apprenticeship.
