Construction Skills - Carpentry and Joinery Level 1

The course is appropriate for all age groups wishing to train for a level 1 construction diploma in carpentry and joinery.

Modules of study include:
- Health and safety
- Information, quantities and communicating with others
- Building methods and construction technology
- Basic woodworking joints
- Carpentry and joinery hand tools
- Carpentry and joinery power tools
- Personal and social development
- Functional skills (maths)

End Qualification:

Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery Level 1.

Entry Requirements:

Interview required

3 GCSE's grade E or above or entry qualifications at entry level 3. You will be required to successfully pass an interview showing enthusiasm and commitment towards this course. Individual cases outside of this criteria will be considered on their own merits.

Assessment:

Progress and achievement is recorded throughout the year via:
- Practical assessments
- Multiple choice tests
- Synoptic practical assignment
- Online tests

Progression from this course:

On successful completion of the Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery Level 1 the Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery Level 2 can be studied.

Course Costs:

All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials / resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees).
