This course is aimed at students who wish to develop their personal skills and qualities to help them in their learning and future careers. The course provides practical ‘hands on’ experience in a real working environment as an introduction to working in business and administration.

You will study 13 units throughout the year to achieve a diploma / certificate or award. Examples of units are:
- Working in business and administration – 3 credits
- Communicating electronically – 3 credits
- Welcoming visitors (Reception) -2 credits
- Creating business documents – 3 credits

BTEC Diploma in Business and Administration Level 1
EDEXCEL Personal and Social Development Entry Level 3
City & Guilds Functional Skills, Maths, English and ICT

Entry Requirements:

Interview required

3 GCSEs at grade E or entry qualifications at entry level 3 . Individual cases outside of this will be considered on their own merits.

Assessment:

The course units are all marked at pass or fail, students will need to complete all units to gain the necessary 37 credits for the diploma, 13 units for a certificate and 7 units for an award.

Progression from this course:

The course prepares you for employment in a wide range of careers. You may choose to study for further qualifications or progress on to the Level 2 Diploma in Business.

Course Costs:

All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials / resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees). However, many students will be eligible for reduced fees and / or financial support towards the costs. Click here for detailed information. There are some textbooks you will need to purchase (approx £25).

Additional Information:

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be eligible to apply to the college's learner support fund for financial support with the costs associated with your studies.
