This course is for anybody who wants to achieve a higher level qualification such as a degree (BA, BSc) or a Higher National Diploma, but does not have the appropriate qualifications.

The College of West Anglia is a longstanding and successful provider of Access courses. These are an excellent way to achieve the first steps towards a degree or Higher National Diploma. An Access course provides sound preparation for Higher Education. Our Access courses are validated by the Cambridge Access Validating Agency and lead to a nationally recognised qualification for entry to university level study. The purpose of the Access programmes is to help students regain confidence and study skills that may have been lost through previous bad experiences, or through time. Study time at home should match the time you spend in the classroom.

Science and Nursing (and professions allied to medicine, but not medicine or dentistry, for which we run a seperate Access course) - modules can be chosen from: human biology; forensic science; health and community studies; physics; chemistry; psychology; geography; level 3 mathematics.

The course is full-time and is held in the daytime. College attendance coincides with Norfolk schools' holidays whenever possible.

End Qualification:

Our Access courses are validated by the Cambridge Access Validating Agency and lead to a nationally recognised qualification for entry to university level study.

Entry Requirements:

Interview required

You will need to have a grade C (or above) in English language, maths and science. If you do not have these grades, you will need to undertake a pre-course assessment, which will involve answering a series of science-based questions that test basic skills and understanding in these 3 subject areas.

Assessment:

The course will be split into modules which are individually assessed. Later modules build on the skills developed in the earlier ones. Some modules use exams in the assessment process but only as part of the overall assessment; some others use coursework only. The Course Director will give you further information about assessment on the pathway you choose.
